Don’t Let The Bed Bugs Bite You!

Bed bugs are small insects that hide inside of your home. They thrive off of human blood and although they don’t normally spread disease they can cause some health issues. Due to their small and flat bodies they are extremely difficult to find. Bed bugs can be anywhere inside your home, but they typically nest inside luggage, clothes, bedding, furniture, boxes and much more. These bugs also travel with you to infest many different places including offices, hotels, public transit, and even movie theaters. In order to insure that your home is safe from bed bugs you have to be informed of the warning signs.

Spots On Sheets

One of the warning signs that bed bugs might be inside your home is blood spots or fecal stains on your sheets and bedding. Before taking matters into your own hands, we suggest you give us a call and we will have one of our technicians inspect and treat your home.

Skin And Eggs

As bed bugs mature they begin to shed their skin and leave it behind. These shells will most likely be found around the nest and not our in the open. Bed bugs also can lay eggs to reproduce. Eggs are also found around the nest and not out in the open. Eggs that have hatched will look dried-out and dull. Eggs that haven’t been hatched yet will look shiny and have a glue-like substance on them.

Bites

Bed bugs survive off of blood and in order for them to get blood they must bite humans. They feed for about 10 minutes and most people won’t even realize till one to 14 days afterwards when a bite mark appears. Bites appear differently depending on the person, but usually they are red welts sometimes associated with a rash.

Smell

Bed bugs have a very distinctive smell to them that is released when they are startled. The smell is similar to the stench of a herb called coriander. Others say they smell musty or unpleasantly sweet.

If you notice any of these warning signs we suggest you give us a call so our technicians can take a closer look.
