Dry Wood Termites:

Dry wood termites nest completely within the wood. They carve out galleries in wood beams and use tunnels to move from place to place. Dry wood termites swarm annually to start new colonies. Attic and eave areas are prime targets for swarmer’s in search of a nesting location, as are windowsills, baseboards, beams and door frames. A swarmer can enter a structure by penetrating the smallest crack or imperfection in the wood. Dry woods can also be introduced into the environment in infested furniture or construction materials.

Steps of our Drywood Termite Guarantee:

Coastal Pest Control of the Treasure Coast Inc.’s trained termite professionals will inspect and perform a direct injection into the termite galleries with an advanced non-repellent product.

When the dry wood termites come in contact with the treated area it will distribute it to the rest of colony via the transfer effect. Once spread throughout the colony, the liquid solution eventually reaches the colony’s queen termite, eradicating it. All of the exposed wood is then treated with a preventative termite product that is absorbed into the wood. When performed this preventative treatment includes a renewable, dry wood termite protection guarantee. In some instances, a dry wood termite infestation can be so severe that tent fumigation is the only option for a home owner. This would include when a dry wood termite infestation becomes widespread, particularly in inaccessible areas. Once dry wood termites settle into a home, termites can live in areas we can’t access like walls, ceilings, beams, and underneath floorboards. Fumigants do not provide protection from future infestation; they only treat for existing termites.

Subterranean Termites:

Subterranean termites cause more damage to homes in U.S. than storms and fire combined!
Colonies can contain up to 1,000,000 members. Subterranean termites are the most common termite in Florida, Subterranean termites nest in the ground. They are most likely to attack from beneath the structure, gaining access through small cracks or where pipes pass through slab. They will also create mud tubes and travel up the edge of the foundation of a structure. A termite mud tube or tunnel that travels from the soil and up into your home is another sign of subterranean termite infestation. As a rule, subterranean termites travel above ground for food (cellulose) and underground for moisture.

Formosan Termite:

Formosan Termite, a species of subterranean termite, is one of the most aggressive and destructive termites in the world. Often referred to as the “Super Termite,” Formosans cause extensive structural damage to your home by eating through wood at rapid rates. A Formosan colony can contain as many as eight million members and span 3,000 feet. These termites generally live underground, tunneling through the soil in search of food. To avoid exposure to light, Formosans may create mud tunnels above the surface.

Damp Wood Termites:
Damp wood Termites infest wood with high moisture content, wood in contact with the ground or with a high moisture content is vulnerable to attack. Logs, stumps, dead trees, leaky pipes, or gutters can provide favorable conditions for infestation.
